Better Dog Spaces

Editorial policy

The standards used to research, write, check and update this site.

Our published recommendations are based on verifiable product specifications, authoritative guidance and relevant user evidence. Commercial relationships do not determine rankings.

For dog welfare we prefer current guidance from recognised UK animal-welfare organisations and appropriate veterinary bodies. For travel law and official requirements we use GOV.UK, the Highway Code, airlines and product manufacturers as applicable.

Accuracy and updates

Important factual claims should be traceable to a saved source. Pages display their latest substantive update date. Corrections are made when reliable new evidence changes the answer.

Product recommendations

We explain why a product fits a particular need and include meaningful limitations. Product specifications and performance claims are checked against the best current documentation available.

Breed examples never replace individual measurements. We distinguish home crates, soft destination crates, rigid carriers, vehicle crates, seat-belt restraints, dog guards and airline containers.

Welfare boundary

Crates and managed spaces must never be presented as punishment or an answer to prolonged confinement. Advice about distress, injury, repeated escape behaviour or possible separation anxiety directs readers to a vet or qualified behaviour professional rather than making treatment claims.
